What the work feels like
Typical day
You stand in front of the console. You adjust the colour temperature of a spotlight. In the background, the stage is prepared for the next scene. You occasionally climb the scaffolding. You check the cable layout or replace the lamps.
- You operate and maintain all lighting equipment in the stage and auditorium areas.
- You work closely with the lighting director and the director.
- You coordinate with the set design team during rehearsals and performances.
- You carefully light specific lamp types, spotlights and colour gels.
- You use projectors correctly and calibrate them.
- You safely assemble lighting rigs and check the wiring.
Working conditions
You work in theatres, concert halls, exhibition centres or on outdoor stages. Depending on the event, you move between the workshop, the technical room and the stage.
