What the work feels like
Typical day
You stand in the workshop and check the electronics of a hybrid drive with diagnostic tools. You then replace worn brake pads and check the steering for perfect function.
- You check engines, cooling systems and brake systems for perfect function.
- You diagnose electronic faults and replace defective sensors.
- You properly maintain electric and hybrid drives and battery systems.
- You check the chassis, steering and wheel suspension for wear.
- You calibrate driver assistance systems and check safety components like airbags.
- You replace worn parts and top up operating fluids.
- You carry out test drives and document the repair work.
Working conditions
You work in garages, at car dealers or in manufacturer workshops. Sometimes you are also on breakdown service and repair vehicles outside the workshop.
