What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand in the vineyard and check the ripeness of the grapes. Then you harvest them carefully and bring them to the cellar. There you monitor the fermentation and taste samples to ensure wine quality.

  • You choose suitable grape varieties and plant them in the vineyard.
  • You prune vines, remove leaves, and protect plants from pests.
  • You harvest the grapes, press them, and prepare the juice according to hygiene rules.
  • You monitor fermentation, filter the wine, and create different blends.
  • You store the wine in barrels, taste it, and adjust its development.
  • You maintain machines, clean cellar equipment, and keep the workspaces in good condition.
  • You advise customers on selecting and purchasing products.

Working conditions

You work outdoors on the vineyard slopes and indoors in the cellars of wine estates. Most workplaces are located in the well-known wine-growing regions of Switzerland.
