What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand at the control console and check the fibre mix. While rollers press the wet paper sheet, you record measurements for quality control.

  • You receive recycled paper or wood fibres as raw material and prepare them.
  • You dissolve the material in water and separate the individual fibres.
  • You clean the pulp carefully and remove foreign objects like metal or plastic.
  • You use a computer to control the dosage of glue, dyes and other additives.
  • You spread the pulp on screens and press it between hot rollers.
  • You check the weight and moisture of the paper sheets with special measuring devices.
  • You analyse the strength and density of the product in your lab.
  • You manage orders and coordinate the delivery of finished paper rolls.

Working conditions

You work in loud factory halls at paper and cardboard plants. You often move between production lines, the lab and storage areas.
