What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand at the console in the control tower and watch the radar screens. You clear takeoffs and guide planes into airways. During breaks, you discuss weather changes and flight plans with your colleagues.

  • You approve flight plans and clear pilots for takeoff and landing.
  • You monitor traffic on runways and in the air.
  • You guide arriving planes into holding areas or direct them into airways.
  • You maintain radio contact with aircraft and neighboring control centers.
  • You inform pilots about important weather data and course changes.

  • You immediately alert security and rescue services in emergencies.

Working conditions
