What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand at the picking station and scan the barcodes of the goods with a handheld device to enter them into the warehouse system. Then you pack the order securely and attach the shipping documents before the vehicle is loaded.

  • You receive incoming deliveries and check the goods for integrity and completeness.
  • You scan barcodes with a handheld device and transfer the data to the warehouse system.
  • You store products correctly and take special properties such as cold storage requirements into account.
  • You record inventory levels on the computer and forward the data to planning.
  • You pack goods securely and attach delivery notes and customs forms to the shipment.

Working conditions

You work in warehouses, distribution centres or while sorting parcels, sometimes outdoors when loading vehicles. In large companies you work in a team, in small businesses you often work independently with direct customer contact.
