What the work feels like

Typical day

You face a broken tractor, analyze the electronic error codes, and check the hydraulic lines at the same time. After successful commissioning, you explain the maintenance instructions to the farmer and document the work done.

  • You analyze technical faults on agricultural and farm machinery using diagnostic tools and drawings.
  • You plan repairs, instruct staff, and monitor workflows in the workshop.
  • You independently carry out complex repairs in mechanics, electricity, and hydraulics.
  • You supervise trainees, train the team, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • You advise customers on machine use, calculate labor costs, and illustrate special attachments with sketches.
  • You hand over the repaired vehicles, instruct on commissioning, and document all work.
  • You coordinate seasonal maintenance work and take on on-call duties for emergencies if needed.

Working conditions

You mainly work in an agricultural and farm technology workshop or in related businesses. Depending on the workload, you switch between workshop work and field assignments on farms.
