What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand at the technical control desk and check the final cable connections. Meanwhile, the stage is prepared for the performance in the background. You direct the team with clear instructions until all spotlights and speakers are ready.

  • You plan technical processes and create detailed plans for cabling and equipment.
  • You coordinate the setup of stage systems and check technical safety.
  • You program lighting effects and adjust the lighting for each performance.
  • You create budgets and control costs for materials and staff.
  • You instruct staff and ensure smooth workflows during the event.
  • You install and maintain machines, cranes and mounting systems for the technology.
  • You check special effects and ensure safe handling of pyrotechnics.

Working conditions

You work in theatres, at concert stages, trade fairs or in event agencies. You often have to coordinate setup and teardown in noisy halls or under tight deadlines.
