What the work feels like

Typical day

You start early in the stable. You feed the horses and brush their coats. Then you clean the stalls and check the water troughs and feed bins.

  • You prepare the right amount of food and water for the horses every day.
  • You brush the animals' coats and maintain their horseshoes regularly.
  • You clean the horse stalls, ventilate the stables and replace the straw.
  • You saddle the horses, adjust the stirrups and lead them by hand.
  • You maintain the outdoor facilities, level riding areas and repair fences if needed.
  • You support experts with riding lessons and assist customers.

Working conditions

You work in stables, riding halls or outside on pastures in all weather. Private horse owners and equestrian centres are also possible workplaces.
