What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand in the emergency vehicle and check the medical equipment before departure. During the drive with lights and sirens, you keep in touch with the patient and record vital signs.

  • You plan and organise planned patient transports for people in stable condition.
  • Upon arrival at the scene, you immediately assess the situation and the risks.
  • You communicate with those affected and quickly start pre-hospital measures.
  • Until specialists arrive, you provide first aid and monitor the condition.
  • You drive the emergency vehicle and strictly follow traffic rules.
  • During the drive, you record relevant information for the handover at the hospital.
  • You manage the technical infrastructure and ensure the vehicle is ready for use.

Working conditions

You work in emergency services and rescue organisations that are staffed around the clock. Your workplace shifts between the vehicle, the base, and the scene of the incident.
