What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand at your workbench. You check milling parameters and carefully sand the edges of a new model. Then you test the fit before preparing the surface for the next step.

  • You read technical drawings and adjust them if needed.
  • You plan the workflow and estimate material needs accurately.
  • You saw, sand, and file metals or plastics according to plan.
  • You set up machines and check the programming carefully.
  • You glue and assemble individual parts into a complete model.
  • You let moulds dry and carefully remove the cast.
  • You check the quality and fix small errors immediately.
  • You treat surfaces and keep machines and tools clean.

Working conditions

You work in small teams in somewhat noisy workshops at model shops or foundries. You wear personal protective equipment there and exchange ideas with experienced experts.
