What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand at the washbasin, gently massage the scalp and discuss the desired colour with the customer. Then you cut precisely with scissors and blow-dry the strands until the hairstyle looks right.

  • You welcome customers and discuss individual hairstyles or colours.
  • You wash the hair, massage the scalp and apply care products evenly.
  • You cut the hair wet or dry and shape it with a blow-dryer and brush.
  • You dye strands or the whole hair and then check the result.
  • You clean and disinfect all tools and the workspace after every treatment.
  • You handle administrative tasks, speak with customers on the phone and manage appointments.

Working conditions

You usually work in small hairdressing shops or large salons at train stations, airports and shopping centres. The work is done in a team, and you are often on your feet for long periods.
