As a bicycle mechanic, you combine technical craftsmanship with a passion for two-wheelers. What the work feels like

Typical day

You stand at the workbench and check a customer's bicycle gear, while simultaneously adjusting the brakes and calculating the next repair costs.

  • You analyse mechanical defects and estimate the repair scope together with customers.
  • You remove gears, clean the parts and reassemble them correctly.
  • You check tyres, spokes and brakes for wear and adjust them precisely.
  • You maintain electrical systems and replace batteries or motors on e-bikes.
  • You adjust the optimal riding position and test the rideability after maintenance.
  • You sell spare parts, helmets and new bicycles, as well as suitable services.
  • You carry out inventories, recycle old batteries and document the work carried out.

Working conditions

You usually work alone or in a small team in bicycle workshops and sales rooms. Your working hours follow the shop opening times and extend in summer.
